Father’s Day is fast approaching. For me, this is a special time. My father is alive and still my hero. He taught me to walk my talk. He showed me to listen with my head and my heart. He encouraged me to “whistle while I work.” The whistling may not fit during a hypnosis session. But the idea remains the same.
My father never let failure define him. I watched him tinker in the garage. He fixed things while staying totally focused and relaxed. If something broke in his hands, he would quietly whistle. Then he analyzed the problem. Soon, he had it working again.
The same approach applied to personal trials. He listened to my stories of trouble. He grew quiet for a moment. Then he pointed out what I could learn. He encouraged me to step out in faith. I was not alone. I had support. I had the ability to succeed.
When he first heard about my interest in hypnosis, he felt concerned. He knew the common myths. He wanted me safe. I shared the facts with him. He listened carefully. Once he saw it was natural, safe, and effective, he supported it. Now he inspires many of my sessions. (He doesn’t know this. He is never present, and we never discuss it.)
Funny thing: he practiced hypnosis long before he knew the term. That intense focus on solutions. Those mindful moments. The whistling to quiet the conscious mind. All are part of hypnosis. He loves to fish. It relaxes him deeply. Amazing ideas surface in his subconscious while he waits for a bite. While waiting and praying, inspirations flow. Magnificent Bible lessons pour out of him.
My sons Fathers
My sons are blessed with two fathers. Their Bio-Dad (my first husband) and their Step-Dad. Both men love the boys deeply. Each has contributed in his own unique way. One funny memory stands out.
Both dads took my sons to the driving range. The oldest finished his bucket of balls. He sat back to watch. His head turned from one dad to the other. With every swing he said, “Good shot, Dad! Good shot, Dad!” Each dad got praise on every shot. Onlookers seemed confused, but they didn’t care.
Recently I was interviewed on Tampabay’s10 news regarding my work with golfers. So, in honor of my Dad, my sons Dads and all the other dads out there, I am offering discounted golf sessions for a limited time. Contact me through email or go to my website: www.wisdomhypnosis.com for more details.
Happy Father’s Day to all!
