So much can be said about the subconscious mind and the labyrinth where the Phantom lives. The fear of being discovered, the fear of the unknown all represented here. I could go on and on about Freudian mother/father, life/death issues and the politics of the period that Gaston Leroux wrote the original novel.
But alas, this is Friday and I just want to entertain you. So enjoy these moments of fear!

And if you are seeing Phantom in a theater for the first time and don’t know what to expect and all of a sudden that big chandelier comes crashing down almost on your HEAD–that’s scary!
I love the novel and want to read it again but never see it sitting out on a shelf, a shame. I’ll order it in perhaps; you’ve reminded me how much I loved it!
I LOVE The Phantom of the Opera!!! I got to see it for the first time in theatre this summer.. Hubby and I went for our 10th Anniv.. OMG it was awesome!!!!
I just love the Phantom..But still havent had a chance to go see it, but if it comes back to Toronto, I am going to see it, I too have the CD and play it in the car…take care.Mary
I saw the original production in the Haymarket, London. A friend was able to get me the two seats that Lloyd Webber would use if he was sitting in on the show.
The Chandelier was right over our heads. We used to meet Michael Crawford coming out of the stage door as we were walking past on quite a few evenings – it was all very low key and he always had a friendly ‘hello’.

Good Show.
Uh uh I ain’t clicking that. I scare quite easily ever since watching The Ring in 2003. I still can’t sleep without the light on!
I love the music in this play though, but I don’t know that I could ever watch it in the a dark theatre!
